Every Christmas, this memory of mine replays:

Our church has organized a Christmas party about 4 or 5 years ago. One of the activities is to have a Christmas creative drawing contest. The theme is Christmas tree.

As weird as I am, I decided to draw a palm tree instead of a typical xx tree (yikes...I forgot the name...). the reason I drew a palm tree (with decorations that is) is because I thought since this is a creative drawing contest, different is not a bad thing. Second of all, I thought westerners probably uses pine trees because that’s what grows there and so I decided that using palm tree is not a dumb idea since it grows easily where I live.

I didn’t win the contest. I wasn’t planning on winning. I came for the fun of it. Professional kid artists who aren’t from our church came just for the contest. Which, by the way, is not a bad thing, at least they came. BTW, my palm tree kinda looks like the one on the right..with decorations :D

So, the thing that kept coming back to my mind is this. After the award ceremony, we walked around the presentation board where all our art work was posted. All the other contestants’ drawings were great compare to mine. I wasn’t an artist, still ain’t one now. The thing that just hurt me was the comments that people gave my drawing.

What is this person thinking? A palm tree? Really? Everybody knows that Christmas trees are pine trees.

And when people asks me which one is mine, I shyly pointed my drawing to them. I was so ashamed of myself.

And their response were…

Oohh, that very..erm… creative..(meaning different) and walked away quickly. I’ve always wondered, was it because my dad was the pastor of the church that they said it?

Why wouldn’t I had just drawn a pine tree instead? But till today, I still liked my idea of a palm tree. What if the Christmas tree was a palm tree in the beginning and I drew a pine tree as a Christmas tree? Would the comments still be the same?

I hope after this I will be proud of my own “masterpiece” and forget about the second part if this story. I haven’t in the past years. I need to change..

thoughts

i've been thinking about lots of jiberish these days and i really dislike me thinking about them. it is a distraction and doesn't benefit me at all

one thing that was on my mind was what'll happen when i actually go back to my home country.

is it scary?

would people still accept me as i am?

will i still be able to have my friends back or would they ignore me?

would they befriend me because of my family or just to make me not feel bad even though they dislike my presence, just like a few years back?

would i be able to accept the fact that i'm not part of their life or fellowship anymore?

will i admit that i'm not the center of the world?

i'm sure that i would be really behind on whatever's going on on the other side of the world. i will not fit in and i don't need to. i pray that i would not be selfish. i'll try to cooperate and spend my limited time there wisely.

i still feel like the people i wanted to see most would reject me. i don't want that to happen. i want to be able to keep my memories of them beautiful. i do.

So, yesterday we had guests..well, actually, to be precise we had quite a few church members that came :) which BTW is awesome!

then we also had this one guest, my brother's friend, that stay longer..they played chess and stuff till lunch time. He wanted to leave but my mom said:

but your mom is working and not home. therefore just eat with us

no thank you..i can find something to eat at home

it's okay, we are expecting guests anyways..but none of them show up.

but..

just eat

but my dad is at home..do you want him to starve

after we eat you can bring some back for him

....okay...

and so we ate then we decided to play Monopoly Deal..we recruited my brother, me , my mom, and him..but he refused

no, i don't want to play..and i said to my brother

it's because he's french ( he's not but he grew up with a lot of french ), he's digesting. then my mom came and asked

why dont you ask him to join?and my brother answered

Sis said he's french and he's digesting..and after my brother said this he quickly joined the game and we laughed hard!

Huih! I haven't felt so hot in so long..nor so sweaty

and so, to make myself feel better, i took a shower ( the one with a bucket and a dipper ) and it turns out there is little water coming out of the tap. i took a shower anyways. five dipper full of water. i made me feel way better.

i haven't' found anything interesting about my vac yet. yet. i will.

after the 7th computer restart, i got on :) we've gotten new kittys about last week-ish..i'm looking at their picture right now.. or i wish i could,, why does she give birth when i go..i want to see new born kitties..

it's definitely lots of fun doing absolutely nothing during Vac...but Alas...it's ending very soon...i'm leaving in 11 days and i haven't even start packing or look for stuff i'm suppose to buy and bring like: graphing calculator, Sunday dress, snacks(very important), school things,CAMERA(as if i'm ever going to get one).....

and to day is ShiMu's birthday! she is one of my admired people..i tried to send her my regards but no reply yet :( i wonder if she got it at all....

my brother's upset at me for ruining his pendrive but i really didn't and even if i really did, he forgave me that time and said it was the files problem and not mine but i guess not..

now for a happy news: i went to Chocolaterie Robert and got 100grams of chocolate!! they are lovely and simply delicious(yumm)..but before i could take a picture..someone finished it and threw the box away( i guess it's not that great of a news)...

i don't know what else i should say..i haven't been watching any movies or went out or anything really....

Ohhh!! there was a party today for the kids learning Chinese but before that there was an exam..Andy got 78%, Kelvin 81%(maybe i shouldn't have given him that such a high mark, he didn't listen to directions), Gentley 66%, Kim, 76%, Teddy 54%, and MingHao 64%..

and of course, K and L went out...again...every weekend to be exact..

Oh No!

Can you believe it??!! my house is flooding and i think the house is slightly ( alot-ly) damaged, its not like its een good anyways but it made it worse...

BIG reason 1: it is china ( no offence) stuff

BIG reason 2: there is only one control for the water and it's locked and we can't keep the key and locked under the "basement" which we don't have the key to..

BIG reason 3: the water pressure in Mada suddenly increased to 4 times as much as normal

and so we woke up early to wash/clean/whatever the house..

sorry no pictures since my dad took the camera with him while he's visiting other less develop places ( and it's not like the city is actually developed! )

what should I do ?:

ugh..it's so hard not to judge :( especially when i'm doing the same thing that they did..i need to get the log that's stuck in my eye out and keep my mouth shut! very difficult since i'm a chatter box..but it's something that i should be learning now that i'm old (enough)..

hey, have i told you the story of me becoming 20 just by letting my hair down and 30 if an adult saw me (with my hair tied up)? i was crushed for the week :( i mean a 30 year old women is called 20+ and me 30!!

i don't even want to be in this town..reminds me of the first week in africa,BUT now i love here :)

to-day is Saturday

and so...it's the week-end, i always wake up around 7 or 7:30 but today, my brother and i woke up at 8:10!!! so we missed breakfast but that's ok though at 9 i'm suppose to teach and there came this kid, Kelvin, he is definitely the most "think he is the center of the world" kid, i know i know, i should say this about a kid, i mean he's so young and cute, but sorry, if for an hour or so, i could probably keep my cool but not for too long! oh well, i'll have to live with it..but seriously, out of all the people that doesn't have any siblings, he is really something.
